My kids are 8 and 12 and their teeth are starting to look really bad. Should I start teaching them to brush?
please tell me this is a joke. 8 and 12, and now you think you should teach them. you should have been brushing their teeth since they were toddlers and wiping off their gums when they were infants. you also should monitor their dental hygiene.
You should have been wiping off their teeth as babies and they should have been brushing since they were toddlers. If they haven’t been to the dentist recently make an appointment and get their teeth checked and yes they need to be brushing and flossing already. One can only hope they don’t have permanent damage because they have not been brushing since they were toddlers.

Why didn’t you do that years ago? You can type and spell, you must know about good personal hygeine. Were you in jail? Out of the country? On drugs? Is this a joke?

Hopefully you jest, and likely for attention.
"Brushing" /// Oral Hygene, should begin as soon as they begin eating, and certainly can become somewhat of an enjoyable game, given all the kid friendly, tasty pastes, on the market.
Certainly by now, if you truly aren’t jesting, you’ve already noticed decay, and perhaps have spent more money on dentistry, than 8 years worth of toothpastes would have cost.

I would think so. Have you helped them brush at any time? If not, there is the reason. Kids have a tendency to eat a lot of sweets and junk foods, because they see it on television. They put up a fuss when in the supermarket if you don’t buy them the candy or cookies they want. Restraint is tested. I suggest to start your kids on food supplements. For more info please e mail me. And see your dentist. Good luck

I hope you’re just TRYING to be funny.
Because if you’re serious, it’s abuse.

There should be an exam…no TWO exams… before allowing people to be parents. One should be written, and the other should be a drug test. Something tells me that you would have failed at least one of them.

Sorry mom but you should have started brushing their teeth from the first tooth, using a soft tooth brush and a small amount of baking soda. Its not just their teeth you need to address.Healthy gums are important too.Find a fun way to reword them for brushing(not candy or sweet drinks, sodas the worst)If you have the means. Id say a dentist visit is the way to go.A dental hygienist could help them learn to brush the right way.You may all so call your children’s school nurse for help, I have done this several times myself..what ever you do get them brushing today.

I’m going to assume this is a joke, but in case it’s not, make an appointment with a dentist for a professional cleaning and oral assesment for both and then maintain according to his/her instructions.

I ‘m thinking a 8 &12 yr old would already had a good tooth brushing habits. I would definately take them to your Dentist for an exam, and follow up with his or her dental hygenist to show the kid’s the proper way or add to their daily routine. I’ve been hearing something about flouride problems lately on the news, causing some discoloration in the teeth etc.Take care, and see the Dentist. SW RNP

You should have been teaching them to brush their teeth and floss correctly as soon as they grew teeth and were able to brush their own teeth. Start now to teach them to brush their teeth.

This can’t be a real question…

Ok, at that age kids should already know the basics of brushing and should also start flossing too.
