I am posting a poll to see what other people think about the importance of children going to the dentist?

My husband and I are in an argument about the importance of children going to see the dentist. I say that dental health & checkups are just as important as physical health and checkups. What I am getting from him is that if I take our 5 yr old son to the dentist, they are going to want to put braces on his teeth.
1st of all, the dentist can only suggest it, but they can’t do any thing about it as that is the orthodontists job.
2nd, we’re the parents, it’s in our discrestion as to putting (or lack thereof) braces on his teeth.

What do you all think? If ya’ll have suggestions to turn his head in my direction, that would be great.
as of right now he doesn’t need braces, but dad’s concern is the family crooked 2 front bottom teeth. both my kids have it. I had braces and he thinks neone who has braces is a nerd. at least i haave straight teeth

You are the winner in this one! A child should be taken to the dentist by the time he is two years old, for his first checkup. Generally no work needs to be done at that age, so the child has the opportunity to get used to the dentist in a friendly atmosphere.

As your child grows, the dentist will give him flouride treatments to strengthen his teeth, and sealants on his molars to prevent cavities. This will help you avoid more expensive work later on.

There is no need to worry about an orthodontist until your child is 8 years old or older. Even at that age, it’s a rare thing for orthodontic treatment to begin. The dentist would probably evaluate your child’s "bite," to see if braces might be a necessity later on. Generally, they are not used until fifth grade or later. But braces are optional, and the dentist cannot MAKE you get them for your child.

Neglecting to take your child to the dentist at an early age can have some very expensive consequences later on. I never had braces as a child, but I have a crossbite. As a result, I’ve had all kinds of problems as an adult, and have spent thousands of dollars on root canals and crowns. Does your husband want this for your son? I don’t think so!

The California’s Budget could leave thousands of children on a waiting list for health care and are trying to find ways around a $17.2 million budget shortage. More than 800,000 children rely on the low-cost health, dental, and vision coverage. The Managed Risk Insurance Board states that the waiting list could estimate up to 160,000 children in the first six months.

If there are 800,000 children relying on low-cost budgets, that is 1,600,000 parents who can’t afford health care, vision care or dental coverage. With this deficit, those families will be FORCED to pay more money….many will not be able to do that so it puts a strain on the higher wage earners of the country. The money must come from somewhere!!! Because this may put a strain on the systems, waiting periods will have to be implemented and a person who needs a knee replacement may have to wait 1 year to receive a new knee instead of the old system of 2 days. Everything will be backed up and the system will be failing people. Many unnecessary deaths will occur because of the strain on the system.

How can i improve my gum health?

Should I put my newborn daughther on dental and vision insurance?

Obviously, when she is born in 2 weeks I plan on adding her to my health insurance. However, it seems unwarranted to add her to vision and dental right away. Any thoughts? Also, if not right away, when would you add a new child to vision and dental insurance? Thanks in advance!

Babies don’t develop 20/20 vision until they are 2, and before that, the pediatrician can do any necessary checks. Dental insurance isn’t necessary, she doesn’t have any teeth. I would add them around 2 years of age.

Do I have to pay for dental care?

I have court ordered child support and health care.
Dental care is not court ordered, but I’m required to pay half the bills. I have dental insurance for my two children. Should I have to pay the cost of there visits, too? EX never would take the children to the doctor or dentist while they were small. Even if I beg her to. Since the divorce they visit the doctors and dentist monthly. She says she will take every dime I can make and she is doing it. I don’t have enough to live on. What is this man to do? I can’t afford an attorney any longer. Every penny I make goes to pay for something the children need, or she says they need. court said she was to notify me when the children go to the doctors. this doesn’t happen. All I get is the bill afterward. She now has the children seeing a counselor. Been in counseling for a month. Insurance is paying, but my part is more than I can pay. She is trying to cut me out of my children’s life. The counseling is more for her than the children. The insurance just covers the children. I had to buy copies of the records from the counselor to see what is going on. It was filled with lies. divorced for two years. Will she ever let me live?
All she thinks about is cutting me out of my children’s life and will do whatever it takes to stop me from being there Dad. She really believes this can happen.
No money left for lawyers! I’m up to my but with bills, already. This woman doesn’t care about court orders. The court does nothing to her. The court is not on the side of the man.

You need to get the order modified to include that she use your Dental Coverage. Similar to a child support modification, this could be done Pro Se.

i provide to the child health insurance, dental and vision i am planning to pay 150 a week no more than that and have my son on my day off saturday and sunday every week i think my ex want more than that

It depends on your States Law. You could have as much as twenty five percent of your income go to your first born.
