how does medicaid work? Do you really get good preventative health and dental?
I ask this because people seem to suggest that medicaid is tantamount to good health care. I always thought it meant that if you were sick or hurt, you could go sit and wait in a long obnoxious line that could take all day or all night at the county hospital to get treated. Is my perception correct?
Or could you use medicaid to get regular dental check ups, and regular physical exams that make sure you stay in good health?
This question comes up a lot in political discussions. I admit to not knowing the full facts. I hope some of you can can clarify this. Thanks.
Medicaid is a form of insurance.
What this does is offer medical/dental insurance for those that don’t have access to it. For some, if they are financially able, this means that they pay some sort of co-pay. For others, this means that they get their medical bills taken care of.
The stickler is finding those that accept medicaid as a form of payment. Many private practices don’t accept it, thus forcing people to seek other insurance. In our area, there is only one private practicing dentist that accepts it, and the only other place is the dental facility connected with our public clinic. This means that someone on medicaid needing dental care may have to wait for up to a year for an appointment. And God help you if you can’t make that appointment due to work, a medical emergency or some other conflict when the appointment comes around.
Medicaid is government offered insurance. That is the sum of the parts. It is there for those that need it. And I can tell you that it does offer a very valid form of insurance for those that require it. I personally am thankful that it is there, because without it, many that I care for/work with would be without many of the things that they need for their care, as well as for the medications they need to live as normal of a life as possible. It covers medical visits, lab visits, medications, and such. What it covers, like any other insurnace plan, depends upon the plan the person has.
Medicaid is the healthcare portion of the welfare system. Its what all the illegals are on since they are politically sanctioned fpr being here some states may ghve dental in it, but I dont think my state does (ky)

Canada has a great system, although because of excess immigration, a few procedures have a waiting line. But most people fair well and never get in debt thanks to the system.

Yes, i work with plenty of people on Medicaid and they get just as good of health and dental care as I do. They go to the same offices we do and see the same doctors…it is just a type of insurance. I live in a big city, so it is not hard to find people who take it, but in rural areas it is harder due to many smaller practices not taking Medicaid

The way it should work is money is taken from your pay check and helps to pay for medical care for the handicapped, truly indigent or elderly with no health insurance. In actuality the bulk of it pays for illegals here to suck off of us, losers refusing to get a job, and scammers. I don’t know about you, but I get livid just thinking what portion of my hard earned money goes to those just sucking off of us.
