I have horrendous teeth. I am a dentists wet dream. Cosmetic Dentistry Help!?
Hi, I am 24 years old. Growing up, my parents divorced and didn’t have any money. I never seen the dentist much. I have crowded teeth because of it. I have about 2 teeth that are problematic. They cause alot of pain on somedays, but most of all, they kill my self esteem and I find it hard to crack a big smile, which sucks because I go to school and don’t do certain things because of my teeth. It does affect what I do in my life.
Basically one of the capital teeth is sticking out by about 1-2 mm’s. The one on the bottom, directly under it is doing the same thing. However I do not care about the bottom, because they are fairly straight other then that tooth, and I don’t show my bottom teeth when I smile, so I wont worry about the bottom. Also the small teeth on the outside of the two capitals. On one side, there is one missing, because it was pulled out when I was a kid. I knocked it out on the playground somehow. I also have large K9’s which helped the crowding.
Anyways I basically just want my top fronts to look straight and not crooked. Thats all I want really. I don’t care at all about a ‘proper bite’. That don’t matter to me at all. I was thinking of them just ripping it out, and placing a new one inside, or just make them appear str8 with some crowns. What do you guys think? I have taken to pictures of the teeth so you understand. I talked to dentists already about it and they didnt like the idea, because I have healthy, strong, white teeth. They say braces. But I say no way in hell because for my teeth, it would take at least 5 years, and I am too old for braces imo. I will not do it no matter what. Here are pictures.

totally embarrassing.
i need to do something about it. i been wanting to for the last six years. they have progressively gotten worse. i didn’t notice them until about 18 or 19. they weren’t so bad back then. i think the molders really messed them up over the last 4 years or so.

It looks like you are missing your upper right lateral incisor. To do what you are asking for can be accomplished by placing 5 porcelain crowns on your 5 remaining front teeth. It would align them and re contour them to look like you had 6 perfectly shaped and aligned upper front teeth. That would solve you appearance problem without braces. I don’t know what the condition of your back teeth are or what the story is with your lower front teeth. Good luck Dan

Don’t go to a dentist with a preconceived notion of what you will or won’t do. He/she is the professional, not you! You know I’ve heard people say "oh, I can’t go back to school! (or whatever) It’ll take 5 years, heck, I’ll be 30 years old when I graduate!" My question is: How old will you be in 5 years if you don’t go back to school?
Do this — for about a month pay attention to people around you … at work, in traffic, at clubs, supermarkets, etc. There are tons of people your age and older who have braces. There are braces that are almost transparent.
Reconsider your decision, okay. You’ll be glad you did in the long run.

well your teeth aren’t so crooked that you would necessarily need crowns, because prepping for crowns are very abrasive to your teeth…I would suggest veneers.
crowns and veneers never stain over the years like normal tooth enamel does and its a quick and easy way to straighten your front teeth.
