I got laid off a year ago and still can’t find a job. I work random farmhand jobs every now and then to make ends meet. My health insurance from my layoff package is about to expire. My wife is still part time until they decide to hire her full time so she doesn’t get any benefits. I have 2 boys that I am worried about if something happens. Is there anyway to find health insurance/ dental. I tried a few places like BC-BS and they wanted an arm and a leg.
I really can’t answer your question because I live in Canada & our medical system is different than yours. I just wanted to give you some words of encouragement because I understand the kinds of frustrations you must be feeling. Sometimes we get stuck into a certain way of thinking and we don’t realize we are limiting ourselves and keeping the things we want to happen from happening. Go rent this movie that is called "The Secret" it is a documentary and I promise you it will change your life.
Are dental implants for missing teeth only?
I’m 16 years old and I’ll be getting braces. ugh. But I was wondering if dental implants are for missing teeth only?, or if there’s a possibility that they can replace crooked teeth?
I think they can but…
They are very expensive and I had one for a missing tooth that did not work (it did not correctly screw into place) so I now have just a gap and the metal cover.
I would much prefer crooked teeth and would recommend them only as a last result for missing teeth, mine caused pain and nerve damage.
Braces are a much better and far less drastic option, I’m sure they will fix the crooked teeth!

How will this affect the public?
The California’s Budget could leave thousands of children on a waiting list for health care and are trying to find ways around a $17.2 million budget shortage. More than 800,000 children rely on the low-cost health, dental, and vision coverage. The Managed Risk Insurance Board states that the waiting list could estimate up to 160,000 children in the first six months.
If there are 800,000 children relying on low-cost budgets, that is 1,600,000 parents who can’t afford health care, vision care or dental coverage. With this deficit, those families will be FORCED to pay more money….many will not be able to do that so it puts a strain on the higher wage earners of the country. The money must come from somewhere!!! Because this may put a strain on the systems, waiting periods will have to be implemented and a person who needs a knee replacement may have to wait 1 year to receive a new knee instead of the old system of 2 days. Everything will be backed up and the system will be failing people. Many unnecessary deaths will occur because of the strain on the system.
What foods and vitamins promote good dental health?
Something I wouldn’t mind having everyday. I like v8 juice.
xylitol…a natural birtch sugar that reverses tooth decay…the military uses it now in their MRE’s…it’s sweet and good for you…
What’s the "rule of thumb" time limit for tooth brushing?
Do you time your kid’s tooth brushing? How long for each tooth? Or how long for the whole mouth? Do you have to remind them NOT to forget their tongue?
Our dentist said to sing the ABCs while brushing either the top or bottom and then switch and sing it again.
At what age do you let your child brush their teeth?
When is it safe for a kid to use toothpaste and brush. I know the label on toothpaste says children 6 and under shouldnt use it. So what about those who are under 6? How do u clean their teeth?
That only means that you shouldn’t let them do it by themselves. You should start brushing their teeth as soon as they have them. That is only a guideline anyway…I brushed my teeth by myself when I was 2 or 3, and I knew not to swallow the tube.
